Overview
Pre-Requisites
- Admin Permission in Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Mailbox which you are configuring the forwarding must exist and be active
- Ensure Domain setting allows automatic forwarding to email externally
- Ensure DLP (i.e. Data Loss Prevention) policies does not block forwarding rules
- Review Anti-Spam Protection to allow automatic forwarding
- Review Organization compliance regulations to check whether auto-forwarding should be restricted.
Setup Auto Forwarding Rules for specific Mailbox (via Microsoft 365 Admin Center)
1. Login to Microsoft Admin Center and access the Exchange Admin Center (i.e. https://admin.cloud.microsoft/exchange#/mailboxes). Go to Mail Flow > Rules
2. Click on "Add a Rule"
3. Enter the Name as "Forward Emails for [Mailbox] to [Destination"
Apply Rule if "The Recipient" "is this person"
Select the Mailbox accordingly, and click Save,
4. Update the Do the following as:
"Redirect the message to" "these recipients"
Enter the email address to forward to (e.g. ap.<tenantname>@smartui.au ) and click Save.
5. Finish setting rule by enforcing the Rule.
6. Ensure to Enforce the rule.
